REAL TOOLS FOR REAL LIFE

This helpful new book has received great praise from parents and professionals alike.  It recently won the 2004 Pinnacle Achievement Award for Self Help Books-- a competition involving more than 1000 titles!  See the reviewers comments below!

Reviewed by Holly Carpenter of the Bridges4Kids Review Panel:  "This is an amazingly insightful manual on how to raise your child with ADHD. Dr. Al Winebarger touches on every aspect of helping your child in school and at home. There is even a chapter on stress management for parents. This is a wonderful book, as it does not stress medication. Like the title says, it contains 'real tools for real life'. The ideas in the book are based on a common sense approach to learning, are not hard to follow, and will help everyone in the family. Great book!"

Newspaper Article By: Gina Kaiser, Grand Haven Tribune:  "Local psychologist writes 'psychobabble-free' book"

"So when Winebarger set out a year ago to write a book on parenting children with ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder), he knew that to make it helpful, it would have to be 'psychobabble-free.' 'There are a lot of really good books on ADHD out in the world. ... But the problem is (the authors) all write for other psychologists,' he said. 'The world doesn't need another ADHD book that nobody reads.' Therefore, Winebarger said he created a book for parents of children with ADHD that contains 'just the facts in readable English.'   Parenting Kids with ADD/ADHD: Real Tools for Real Life," he said, is designed to be an easy and convenient resource for parents, with a cookbook-style binding so it can lie flat on a table, colorful text to hold the reader's attention and a quick-read format, with only one idea explained per page.

Want to know more?  Read what the parents thought about the Attention Camp tools contained in this book:

Attention Camp Parent Comment: "I have learned more about my child’s illness and I have better learned how to cope.  I feel I have gained the skills to help my child: star charts, stress management, time out."

Attention Camp Parent Comment:  "The self-renewal of efforts to better interest and understand my child.  A moral/mental boost.  Light at the end of the tunnel (and a renewed confidence that the light is not an oncoming train)."

Attention Camp Parent Comment:  "New tools!  Direction.  I learned that I have to establish limits clearly and specifically and that I get so wrapped up in negative behavior and so overwrought, that I fail to recognize spontaneous positive behaviors.  This was one of the most positive experiences I have had."

Nearly 100% of parents taking part in our Attention Camp Program truly found the tools contained in our book to be useful and worthwhile:
